responsibility efforts to drive the most impact. With Blackbaud\u2019s\r\nYourCause\u00ae\r\n solution, Umpqua Bank expanded donation matching, focused on charities with\r\nurgent needs, and offered ways for employees to get involved virtually.    <\/p>\n    <\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"wysiwyg wysiwyg-white white-bg\" id=\"wysiwyg-block_a3cd6fcac035429315dad3e57817dade\">\n            <h3>Umpqua Bank meets community needs<br \/>\nduring COVID-19 through employee giving<br \/>\nand volunteering.<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\nWhen COVID-19 began impacting customers in its five-state region, Oregonbased Umpqua Bank took swift action to help.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">The bank approached its response methodically, first identifying the most<br \/>\nurgent needs, then setting up ways for employees to get involved, and rolling<br \/>\nout that assistance in a thoughtful way\u2014all while providing resources to<br \/>\ncustomers seeking relief programs, mortgage assistance, and other financial<br \/>\nsupport and transitioning its own teams to remote work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\nWith Blackbaud\u2019s YourCause solution, Umpqua Bank selected charity<br \/>\norganizations to highlight through its employee giving program. The bank<br \/>\nexpanded its company match from a dollar per dollar to a three-to-one match<br \/>\nand focused on specific types of organizations to support, rotating the<br \/>\nfeatured charities every few weeks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\n\u201cWe worked to fill urgent needs first,\u201d said Jordan Bowen, operations<br \/>\nmanager. \u201cWe had the program ready to go before we even had approval. The<br \/>\nplatform was just so responsive and really helped advance our ability to help<br \/>\nour people and communities during this challenging time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\nUmpqua Bank first focused on international, national, and regional COVID-19<br \/>\nresponse funds, then food access organizations, small business support<br \/>\ngroups, childcare support organizations, and finally charities nominated<br \/>\nby employee resource groups. The bank also set up virtual volunteering<br \/>\nthrough YourCause, connecting its employees with nonprofits that previously<br \/>\nreceived funding from the bank.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\nPartner organizations surfaced 25 virtual volunteering opportunities in the<br \/>\nfirst two weeks alone. Umpqua associates sewed medical masks, helped with<br \/>\ndata entry, read to children, and more. As more services and programs have<br \/>\ntransitioned to maintain social distancing, associates are now also taking<br \/>\ngrocery orders, hosting financial education workshops, and participating in<br \/>\npanels and informational career interviews.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\n\u201cOur team\u2019s approach is to ask community partners what they need instead<br \/>\nof guessing,\u201d
