<\/span>\n    <\/div>\n    <p class=\"body-large\">\n        St Ann\u2019s Hospice, founded in 1971, cares for patients with lifelimiting illness and their loved ones. The charity has three sites\r\nacross Greater Manchester and dedicated teams of community\r\nand Hospice@Home professionals that also support people in\r\nwhatever place they call home.\r\nSt Ann\u2019s Hospice became a Blackbaud test partner in 2020,\r\nwhich meant they were one of the first organizations in the UK\r\nto try the new JustGiving\u00ae integration for Blackbaud Raiser\u2019s\r\nEdge NXT\u00ae. The new feature provides a real-time feed, pulling\r\nfundraising and donation data from JustGiving into Raiser\u2019s Edge\r\nNXT, enabling organisations to be more efficient, save time, and\r\ntake their supporter stewardship to the next level.\r\nWe caught up with the Hospice\u2019s Fundraising Support\r\nCoordinator Abi Hallas, and Fundraising Assistant Julie Lowe to\r\nhear about their experience of using the integration, how it has\r\nled to improved internal communications and is enabling them\r\nto trial new large-scale virtual events    <\/p>\n    <\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"wysiwyg wysiwyg-white white-bg\" id=\"wysiwyg-block_be8fcfd444c63d7a2c065b7308c96537\">\n            <h3>Q: Can you give an overview of St Ann\u2019s Hospice\u2019s<br \/>\nfundraising activity and existing team set-up?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">Our support means different things to different people\u2014some people<br \/>\ncome to us for end-of-life care, whilst others receive support from the point<br \/>\nof diagnosis, through their illness and beyond. Our services look a little<br \/>\ndifferent at the moment because of COVID-19, but typically as a charity, we<br \/>\nneed to raise $34,000 every day to keep our doors open as only around a<br \/>\nthird of our funding comes from the NHS. We fundraise through a variety<br \/>\nof activities and events, such as gifts in wills, a weekly lottery, and we have<br \/>\ncharity shops across Greater Manchester and online.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\nOur fundraising is supported by a team of 15 people, all of which use<br \/>\nRaiser\u2019s Edge NXT every day. We have been Blackbaud users for over 25<br \/>\nyears\u2014since 1995\u2014but over the past few years we have made a conscious<br \/>\neffort to stop using spreadsheets and instead make sure that we use<br \/>\nRaiser\u2019s Edge NXT for as much as we possibly can.<\/p>\n<h3>Q: Before joining our test partner program, how<br \/>\nwere you capturing donor data and sharing it<br \/>\nwith the wider St Ann\u2019s team?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">We have been using JustGiving for fundraising and donations for nearly<br \/>\n20 years, and, until now, our data management and import processes have<br \/>\nbeen very manual. If someone started fundraising for us on JustGiving then<br \/>\nwe would manually check if they were already known to us on Raiser\u2019s Edge<br \/>\nNXT, and if not, we would create a record assigned to them. We would also<br \/>\nadd their JustGiving fundraising page details onto Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT and<br \/>\nmake sure that it was assigned the correct code so that any future donations<br \/>\nthrough that fundraiser would be set-up and reported on accurately.<br \/>\nWe also used to do a weekly download of our JustGiving Donations<br \/>\nReport and match the amounts against our bank statements. It was timeconsuming and quite complex.<\/p>\n<h3>Q: How have you found the process of being<br \/>\npart of our test partner program and working<br \/>\nwith Blackbaud on implementing the JustGiving<br \/>\nIntegration for Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">It\u2019s been really good, and the Blackbaud team has been great! We had<br \/>\nweekly meetings in the run-up to switching on the integration, and all our<br \/>\nquestions were answered quickly. Now that we\u2019re more confident using<br \/>\nRaiser\u2019s Edge NXT and JustGiving together, we only need to contact the<br \/>\nBlackbaud team occasionally, and they\u2019re always helpful and quick to get<br \/>\nback to us.<\/p>\n<h3>Q: Have you faced any challenges whilst<br \/>\nadjusting to the integration?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">There were a few little hiccups as initially new activities weren\u2019t coded to the<br \/>\nright campaign, so we had to get into the habit of checking imported data<br \/>\ndaily. We also found that a lot of our colleagues didn\u2019t understand the admin<br \/>\nside and how their activities could affect our work in getting the integration<br \/>\nto work smoothly. That became a case of educating everybody internally so<br \/>\nthat now, if someone is going to set up a new activity or campaign, then they<br \/>\nlet the right people know so the back end can be coded.<br \/>\nWe\u2019ve gotten over most of the challenges now, and our goal of being able<br \/>\nto accept new import batches without changing codes is now happening<br \/>\nmost of the time.<\/p>\n<h3>Q: Has the integration changed people\u2019s<br \/>\nknowledge of Blackbaud Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">Yes, definitely. We have improved our internal communications, and the<br \/>\nwider team now has far more knowledge about both JustGiving and NXT.<br \/>\nHelping them to learn these new processes and embedding them in the<br \/>\norganisation has been important for us to get everything working together.<\/p>\n<h3>Q: How has using the JustGiving integration for<br \/>\nRaiser\u2019s Edge NXT impacted your organisation?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">From an admin perspective, the integration has saved us time and reduced<br \/>\nthe amount of manual work. To be honest, we think it will save us quite a lot<br \/>\nof time in the long run, especially when we have big events. Every year we<br \/>\norganise a Midnight Walk in Manchester, and thousands of people signup to take part, but it was so manual to manage and became our biggest<br \/>\nreason for wanting to automate our processes.<br \/>\nWe\u2019re doing a virtual version of the walk this year from May 14th-17th, and<br \/>\npeople can complete 10K their way. It\u2019s going to be a big test run for us,<br \/>\nhopefully demonstrating the real impact of integrating JustGiving and<br \/>\nRaiser\u2019s Edge NXT.<\/p>\n<h3>Q: Due to COVID-19, some of the St Ann\u2019s<br \/>\nHospice team have been working remotely.<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">How have the team found using Blackbaud<br \/>\nRaiser\u2019s Edge NXT when out of the office?<br \/>\nIt\u2019s been a lifesaver; I don\u2019t know how we would have coped without<br \/>\nRaiser\u2019s Edge NXT. Our old CRM system had to be accessed from an office<br \/>\ncomputer, but as NXT is cloud-based it allowed team members to work<br \/>\nsecurely from home, which has been really good, as otherwise we would have had to come in every day. Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT, combined with using<br \/>\nOffice 365, has enabled us to work from home just as easily as working in<br \/>\nthe office, which has been an absolute lifesaver, and throughout COVID-19,<br \/>\nwe\u2019ve been able to keep the hospice running almost like business as usual.<\/p>\n<h3>Q: Are there any specific features that you find<br \/>\nmost helpful in Blackbaud Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT is such an easy to use and intuitive CRM, which makes<br \/>\nit really simple for new starters to get up and running on the system.<br \/>\nEverything we need is all there in one place, giving us a complete overview<br \/>\nstraight away\u2014if someone rings up and wants to know how much they\u2019ve<br \/>\ngiven, the information is right there. Before Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT we couldn\u2019t<br \/>\ntake donations over the phone but having that functionality now has<br \/>\nproven to be so valuable. When we launched an urgent COVID-19 appeal,<br \/>\nwe had so many phone calls with generous people wanting to support us\u2014<br \/>\nNXT was brilliant as within five minutes the donation process was all done.<br \/>\nThe JustGiving integration for Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT just couldn\u2019t have come at<br \/>\na better time.
