<\/span>\n    <\/div>\n    <p class=\"body-large\">\n        Wales Air Ambulance aims to reach, treat, and transport\r\npatients with the greatest speed possible to the most\r\nappropriate hospital for their needs. They have the UK\u2019s only\r\ndedicated Helicopter Transfer Practitioners and every year the\r\ncharity attends around 2,500 missions.\r\nIn 2020, Wales Air Ambulance joined our test partner program,\r\nbecoming one of the first organizations in the UK to try the\r\nnew JustGiving\u00ae integration for Blackbaud Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT\u00ae.\r\nThe new feature integrates fundraising and donation data from\r\nJustGiving with Blackbaud Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT in real-time,\r\nmeaning organizations can take their stewardship programs to\r\nthe next level with a more complete picture of their supporters.\r\nWe chatted with Mark Stevens, head of fundraising at Wales\r\nAir Ambulance, about their experience of the new integration,\r\nincreasing their database tenfold, and how Blackbaud Raiser\u2019s\r\nEdge NXT has enabled their fundraising staff to keep working\r\nduring the pandemic.    <\/p>\n    <\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"wysiwyg wysiwyg-white white-bg\" id=\"wysiwyg-block_7ce0f5fda5ed2ce4fcde958f8bf1a00e\">\n            <h3>Q: Can you give us an overview of how your<br \/>\nteam typically generates funds?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">A: We need to raise $13.5million every year to fund our services, especially<br \/>\nnow as we have just launched 24 hours a day service. We do this through a<br \/>\nnumber of different income streams, including regular giving lottery service,<br \/>\nlegacies, events, and retail shops. Prior to starting on our journey with<br \/>\nBlackbaud we were very old fashioned in our fundraising methods<br \/>\n\u2014 we didn\u2019t look at big picture fundraising or have a CRM in place to<br \/>\nprovide us with metrics that could help us to ask the right questions to<br \/>\nthe right people.<\/p>\n<h3>\nQ: When did Wales Air Ambulance first start<br \/>\nworking with Blackbaud Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\nA: We moved over to Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT back in April 2019. We imported<br \/>\neverything that we had, but we weren\u2019t working with the best data so there<br \/>\nwas a bit of work getting everything tidied up and transferred over. Since<br \/>\nimplementing Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT we work a lot harder to accurately gather<br \/>\ndata as the team can now see the benefit and impact of having good<br \/>\nquality data. Raiser\u2019s Edge has empowered our staff and enabled them to<br \/>\nsee what actually works for their constituency\u2014Wales is a big place, it\u2019s<br \/>\nvery diverse and what works in one region just doesn\u2019t work in another.<br \/>\nHowever, we now have the metrics to properly segment donor data and<br \/>\ntailor our marketing activity to each region.<\/p>\n<h3>Q: What impact have you seen since moving<br \/>\nto Blackbaud Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\nA: The biggest impact that Raiser\u2019s Edge has had for us is that a large<br \/>\nproportion of fundraising staff have been able to return to work sooner<br \/>\nsince the COVID-19 pandemic. When using our old CRM system, we were<br \/>\nworking in a small charity mindset. We had staff out in the community<br \/>\ndoing event and community fundraising, but because the old CRM was<br \/>\ncentralised and had to be accessed through a server, staff couldn\u2019t retrieve<br \/>\nand share data. Raiser\u2019s Edge is cloud-based so everyone can have access<br \/>\nand take responsibility for their region. Our staff can see everything that\u2019s<br \/>\ncoming in across Wales and they can really have a targeted approach to<br \/>\nfundraising for their region and build a bigger picture.<br \/>\nWithout Raiser\u2019s Edge, during COVID-19 and lockdown, staff would have<br \/>\nreally struggled to complete any of their usual tasks. But because our staff<br \/>\ncan access Raiser\u2019s Edge from home, they can continue to engage with<br \/>\nfundraisers safely, they can encourage support through calls and email<br \/>\nsupporters using the database. All this has meant a large portion of staff have been able to return to work earlier and, of course, maintained our<br \/>\nincome in this difficult time.<\/p>\n<h3>Q: Wales Air Ambulance joined our JustGiving<br \/>\nintegration for Blackbaud Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT test<br \/>\npartner program in 2020. Prior to the integration,<br \/>\nhow long had you been using JustGiving?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\nA: Oh wow, for as long as I can remember! I\u2019ve been with Wales Air<br \/>\nAmbulance for over 10 years and we\u2019ve been using JustGiving the whole time.<\/p>\n<h3>\nQ: How did you used to capture donor data and<br \/>\nconnect it with your CRM before becoming an<br \/>\nintegration test partner?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\nA: I feel embarrassed to say that we weren\u2019t importing our data, we were<br \/>\nusing the JustGiving reporting as a separate tool. We were running JustGiving<br \/>\nreports and manually adding it to our CRM totals, but we weren\u2019t using the<br \/>\ninsights to engage with our donors. Now, through the JustGiving and Raiser\u2019s<br \/>\nEdge integration we can actually see live data and use it to benefit donor<br \/>\nrelationships. It\u2019s a million times more beneficial for our relationships.<\/p>\n<h3>Q: Can you tell us about the integration set-up<br \/>\nprocess?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\nA: It was so easy. You just have to follow a step-by-step process over the<br \/>\nphone, which was just two or three clicks, and it\u2019s all set up ready to go. We<br \/>\narranged the parameters ourselves of where we wanted everything to go, it<br \/>\ntook five minutes. I was amazed how easy it is, it was incredible.<\/p>\n<h3>\nQ: Has the integration presented any challenges?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\nA: Yes, but the challenges were good challenges because we could see the<br \/>\npower and functionality now available to us. The integration took us a step<br \/>\nabove where we had been, so we wanted to figure out how to make the<br \/>\nmost of the it to enable us to thank donors and get people raising more.<\/p>\n<h3>\nQ: What impact has using Raiser\u2019s Edge<br \/>\nNXT and JustGiving together had on your<br \/>\norganisation?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\nA: In the past we were so slow on acknowledging someone who had<br \/>\ncreated a Fundraising Page, or we had people getting in touch to ask if we<br \/>\nhad received their money because our systems were so poor at talking to<br \/>\neach other. Now it\u2019s seamless. When someone creates a Fundraising Page on JustGiving, they\u2019re on Raiser\u2019s Edge straight away, which means they can<br \/>\nreceive an immediate call or email, they can be thanked or sent a t-shirt\u2014all<br \/>\nthe things that help them to raise more money for us. We\u2019re seeing such<br \/>\ngreat returns as people feel valued and encouraged\u2014like they\u2019re part of<br \/>\nthe family. This is the same for donors now too\u2014if they\u2019ve opted in and<br \/>\nconsented to contact, we\u2019re able to thank them properly. We\u2019re seeing<br \/>\nincreasing returns from fundraising and we\u2019re growing our database. This<br \/>\nmeans that, when it comes to marketing messages for our appeals and<br \/>\ncampaigns, our database is now 10 times bigger than what it was in the<br \/>\npast, and that\u2019s all thanks to the integration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\nEven outside of the integration, the support and prompts that donors get<br \/>\nthrough JustGiving, such as \u2018You haven\u2019t finished creating your Fundraising<br \/>\npage\u2019 or \u2018Why don\u2019t you self-donate first\u2019 all really help\u2014it\u2019s such a small<br \/>\nprice to pay for JustGiving and it\u2019s so worth it.<\/p>\n<h3>Q: Are there any major achievements that your<br \/>\ncharity is particularly proud of since testing the<br \/>\nintegration?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\nA: We set up a virtual event last year called Walk Wales and I think it\u2019s<br \/>\none of the best things that we\u2019ve done in recent years as it raised nearly<br \/>\n$85,000. People could choose a set distance that would replicate a specific<br \/>\ntrek across Wales. We launched a campaign on JustGiving, which integrated<br \/>\nwith both Strava and Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT, and it was incredible to do all<br \/>\nreporting from one place rather than across different platforms. We were<br \/>\nable to see which marketing streams were the most profitable and Raiser\u2019s<br \/>\nEdge also provided email marketing tools so we could send automated,<br \/>\npersonalized messages to participants. We want participants to feel part of<br \/>\nthe community and encouraged to raise more, to share their story, share our<br \/>\nappeal, and take on the world!<\/p>\n<h3>\nQ: Looking ahead, what\u2019s next for Wales Air<br \/>\nAmbulance?<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\nA: A while back we invested money in a new website with an annual<br \/>\nsubscription. The idea was to create a website that people could donate on,<br \/>\nregister for events, find out about creating Fundraising Pages, all of it. Since<br \/>\nBlackbaud launched the integration with Raiser\u2019s Edge and JustGiving, we<br \/>\nactually don\u2019t need it anymore. We have to manually import data from that<br \/>\nwebsite and that isn\u2019t what we want. So now we\u2019re going to save money<br \/>\nby changing back to a standard website and hosting everything we need<br \/>\non Raiser\u2019s Edge.<\/p>\n    <\/section>\n\n<section class=\"pull-quote
