Healthcare Foundation\u2019s\r\noutdated, paper-driven accounting process was on a completely different page\u2014until a new\r\nfinancial leader arrived on the scene.    <\/p>\n cancer care along Florida\u2019s<br \/>\nsouthwest coast, new Vice President of Finance and Operations Bobby Pettit<br \/>\nhad to grapple with a system for fund accounting held back in the past.<br \/>\nPettit had inherited procedures that were dependent on paper timecards and<br \/>\npaper files\u2014not to mention paper invoices and receipts that were dropped<br \/>\ninto a box and coded by hand before they disappeared into filing cabinets.<br \/>\nStaff would log, run, and re-run the organization\u2019s financials with Excel<br \/>\nspreadsheets, with each step presenting opportunities for errors.<br \/>\nHe soon realized an answer to the confusion with a cloud-based solution<br \/>\nfor fund accounting developed specifically for nonprofit organizations:<br \/>\nBlackbaud Financial At the end of each day, everyone<br \/>\ncould expect all the numbers to add up, and thanks to an increased level of<br \/>\nsophistication and financial accountability, the Healthcare Foundation could<br \/>\ndrive new fundraising possibilities.<\/p>\n    <\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"wysiwyg wysiwyg-white white-bg\" id=\"wysiwyg-block_56d669d8c7b9edfbdb4e154f5e2a733d\">\n            <h3>An Opportunity to Streamline Operations<\/h3>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">With just over a dozen staff members, the Healthcare Foundation supports<br \/>\none of Florida\u2019s largest public health organizations, Sarasota Memorial Health<br \/>\nCare System, which consistently earns Medicare\u2019s highest rating for quality<br \/>\nand safety and is included in national top hospital lists. The Healthcare<br \/>\nFoundation is currently in the middle of a 7-year $75 million Leading with Care<br \/>\ncampaign to bring comprehensive cancer care to the community. As of May<br \/>\n2021, the Healthcare Foundation has already raised $55.5 million towards<br \/>\nits campaign goal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">A Blackbaud customer for nearly three decades, the Healthcare Foundation<br \/>\nwas successfully using Blackbaud Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT\u00ae\u2014Blackbaud\u2019s flagship<br \/>\nsoftware solution for fundraising and relationship management\u2014but they<br \/>\nwere missing the opportunity to streamline their operations by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackbaud.com\/products\/raisers-edge-nxt-financial-edge-nxt\">integrating Raiser&#8217;s Edge NXT with Financial Edge NXT<\/a>, Blackbaud\u2019s<br \/>\nsolution for fund accounting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-medium\">\u201cThe Blackbaud Raiser\u2019s Edge NXT database administrator was entering all the<br \/>\ngifts, then handing it over to the accountant who did the same thing. Now, the Journal Entry Batch Creator and Budget<br \/>\nCreator Excel Add-Ins provide efficiency and flexibility, allowing staff to create<br \/>\nor edit budgets and journal entries based on the organization\u2019s specific fields<br \/>\nand values directly in Excel.
