{"id":5406,"date":"2020-11-17T13:57:00","date_gmt":"2020-11-17T13:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.blackbaud.com\/newsroom\/article\/blackbaud-donates-laptops-to-help-bridge-digital-divide"},"modified":"2023-07-11T15:49:35","modified_gmt":"2023-07-11T15:49:35","slug":"blackbaud-donates-laptops-to-help-bridge-digital-divide","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.blackbaud.com\/newsroom\/article\/blackbaud-donates-laptops-to-help-bridge-digital-divide","title":{"rendered":"Blackbaud Donates Laptops to Help Bridge Digital Divide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Blackbaud&rsquo;s Corporate Social Responsibility team&nbsp;is proud to announce&nbsp;a donation of 300 laptops to two programs that refurbish technology&nbsp;to&nbsp;get it into the hands of those in need.<\/p>\n<p>We&rsquo;ve&nbsp;partnered with two Microsoft-registered refurbishers, both of which are nonprofits, to make these donations happen.&nbsp;Located in Seattle, WA,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/interconnection.org\/\" title=\"https:\/\/interconnection.org\/\">InterConnection<\/a>&nbsp;has been dedicated to bridging the digital divide for more than 20 years by providing technology to those in need&nbsp;around the country, while also diverting millions of pounds of e-waste from landfills.&nbsp;The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kramden.org\/\">Kramden Institute<\/a>, based in Durham, NC, has focused on families and students in need across the state, providing more than 40,000 computers across 83 of North Carolina&rsquo;s 100 counties.<\/p>\n<p>We are&nbsp;committed to recycling technology as a part of&nbsp;&nbsp;our&nbsp;longstanding&nbsp;focus on&nbsp;&nbsp;sustainability&nbsp;and corporate citizenship.&nbsp;These donations are a part of an ongoing initiative, which began more than a decade ago.&nbsp;Our&nbsp;IT&nbsp;and&nbsp;Corporate Social Responsibility&nbsp;teams partner&nbsp;to identify when a critical mass of devices will be available&nbsp;and&nbsp;to select recipient organizations.&nbsp;As laptops reach the end of their use at Blackbaud, the IT team&nbsp;prepares them for donation by&nbsp;securely erasing all data.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Making a donation like this is so meaningful to our people,&rdquo; says Melissa Britton, Manager of Philanthropy and Volunteer Engagement at Blackbaud, who led the initiative alongside colleagues from IT.&nbsp;&ldquo;We rely on technology every day, in our lives and our work, and we understand just how life changing it can be to have the right tools in front of you,&nbsp;to connect and to do our jobs.&nbsp;Knowing we are helping those who don&rsquo;t have the same access we do is gratifying, and we get the added bonus of knowing we are embracing a more sustainable approach.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>To&nbsp;learn&nbsp;more about Blackbaud&nbsp;Corporate Social&nbsp;Responsibility,&nbsp;check out our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/campaign.blackbaud.com\/social-responsibility?_ga=2.45178151.2057351618.1603727612-1592827045.1599749793\" title=\"https:\/\/campaign.blackbaud.com\/social-responsibility?_ga=2.45178151.2057351618.1603727612-1592827045.1599749793\">latest report<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Blackbaud\u2019s Corporate Social Responsibility team is proud to announce a donation of 300 laptops to two programs that refurbish technology to get it into the hands of those in need.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":5407,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"single-news.php","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"news-category":[481],"news-topic":[],"class_list":["post-5406","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","news-category-announcements"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v20.9 (Yoast SEO v25.9) -
